Beginning a new software project can be intimidating. You probably wouldn't be considering it if wasn't becoming more and more apparent that you need it. You probably have a lot of quesions.
- Where will the program be stored?
During development, the program will be housed on our server. You will be able to see and use it with any browser. When the program is ready for use, you can decide where you want it. It can go on the same server as your company's web site, it can go on a server located within your offices, or you can keep it on our server for free. The choice is yours.
- Does your code have bugs?
Ummm ... yes. As hard as we try to write perfect code, that bar is too high. Only the most mature, well-tested code is "probably" bug-free. When bugs are discovered, they are addressed immediately.
- Do I have to pay for bug fixes?
We don't charge for a quick fix, but some bugs are very hard to track down and may take hours. Some bugs are caused by changes that were requested by the client and breaks a part of the code that used to work.
- How long is my commitment?
There is no long term commitment. Our projects are billed hourly. You may walk away anytime you want.
- How long will it take?
Most small projects can be done in under a month.
- Can you import the data from my old program?
If your old program is either Access or Excel, there's a very good chance that most if not all of your data will be importable. If your old program can export data to a CSV file, it can probably imported as well. But it also depends on how the data is stored and what kind of data it is. For example, if you're using Excel to store data, it's possible that you can have a date field like Feb 31, 20155. Excel is OK with this, but it's not a real date and it won't import into a real date field. You may also have multiple tables in Access with the same piece of data, but it's called different things in each table. This will import, but it's a lot of work.
